Each week Bristol Business News lets a prominent member of the area’s business community have the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.
This week Liz Sands, director of BRAVE Enterprise in Bristol, answers our 10 questions
Film you watched? The last film I saw was Far from the Madding Crowd – being Dorset born and bred, I am a huge fan of all things Thomas Hardy. I can vaguely remember the original version with Julie Christie and Terence Stamp being filmed in and around my home town of Dorchester.
Book you read? The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, which is a psychological thriller and a real page-turner. I’m currently in the middle of Life after Life by Kate Atkinson. I was always a bit anti-Kindle but I bought one to take on holiday and I am now a complete convert!
Music you bought? The last music I downloaded was by my nephew’s fabulous band ‘Lobster’ – they’re all still at school and immensely talented. They play a mix of jazz and funk and are just about to record their first EP.
Play you went to? Kneehigh’s production of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca – a stunningly imaginative show. I must admit to having Blood Brothers withdrawal symptoms – I’ve seen the show quite a few times in Bristol and London and it’s high time I saw it again.
Sporting event you attended? I’m not much of a one for sporting events, but I have been watching some of the rugby on TV if that counts?
Holiday you went on? I recently had a week’s holiday in Southern Galicia – what a fabulous part of Spain! Beautiful beaches, scenery, food and wine. None of us speaks much Spanish and nobody there spoke much English, but with lots of pointing and arm-waving we managed to get by. We spent the last night of the holiday in Porto – a great city. I will definitely go back for longer next time.
Restaurant you ate in? Poco on Stokes Croft – their scrambled eggs are the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
Thing that annoyed you? The rudeness and aggressiveness of some drivers always annoy me.
Thing that made you laugh out loud? Hearing the tale of an aged aunt getting to grips with her new iPad and accidentally Facetiming her brother, who had the shock of his life when her face suddenly appeared on his screen!
Piece of good advice you were given? One of the best pieces of advice I have been given is ‘think before you speak’!
