More jobs on the way at property consultancy Watts’ Bristol office as its workload continues to build

The Bristol office of building surveying, cost consultancy and project management firm Watts is on the lookout for new recruits as it continues to grow.

The independent consultancy, which celebrates 21 years in the city this year, says the economic recovery and greater certainty following the General Election has resulted in a rapidly increasing workload. The firm is particularly searching for talented graduates to join its Bristol team.

The company, which has eight offices across the UK, works with multinational and local businesses, from regional clients such as Bath Spa University, Bristol-bases student accommodation firm Unite and Steiner Academy to national clients including Co-op Group and Boots.

The Bristol office is acting for the owners of properties neighbouring the 200,000 sq ft Aspire office building planned on a high-profile site in Victoria Street, close to Temple Meads station.

Watts’ role is to represent neighbouring tenants to ensure that anything that may affect them during construction is agreed and communicated. Known as ‘neighbourly matters’, this can range from issues involving scaffolding and cranes to matters around shared or party walls.

Watts director Rob Hillman said: “We’ve seen a definite upturn over the last few months and have already taken on a number of new staff this year. We were feeling positive about 2015 even before the election result earlier in May, but this has led to even more inquiries from clients who seem to have been waiting for the outcome before pushing the button.

“Bristol and the wider South West region have a huge amount to offer as a location for business and we’re seeing this reflected in our workload. In line with our workload, we’re looking to recruit several more graduates during the remainder of 2015 and into next year, with the likelihood that our support staff will also grow.”
