Bristol-based planning and development consultancy Origin3 has helped real estate investment client LXB get the go ahead for a £150m housing and retail development in Cornwall.
The consultancy was involved throughout the masterplanning, design and consultation process for the 28-hectare development, working closely with Jersey-based investors LXB and supermarket giant Asda.
The proposed Willow Green scheme near Truro includes 435 homes, an 80,000 sq ft Asda food store and petrol station, 60-bed nursing home and community hall. Also included are a new pub/restaurant, sports facilities and a site for a new primary school.
Cornwall Council strategic planning committee members resolved to grant planning permission for the scheme after a marathon 11-hour meeting in which they considered three other competing food store sites.
The new development will create around 550 jobs while a new road will help relieve pressure on the busy A390.
Origin3 director Jonathan Orton said: “We have been working on the Willow Green proposals since 2011, providing planning advice and extensive consultation with the local authority, residents and other stakeholders.
“The plans provide significant social and economic benefits for the area, including care and community facilities, job opportunities and more than 150 affordable homes to help meet local housing needs. We are delighted that they have now received the go ahead to proceed.”
Origin3 has worked on major schemes across the South West including masterplanning the redevelopment of Filton Airfield and an affordable housing scheme in Hotwells Road conservation area.
