Learning disability charity Brandon Trust is celebrating after their one-day pop-up market in Bristol’s Cabot Circus raised nearly £3,000 to help fund its work in the region.

In the week leading up to market day, 100 staff from Bristol law firm Burges Salmon volunteered alongside people with learning disabilities to make the products being sold.

The market, which sold products produced at different enterprise workshops run by Brandon Trust, was opened by TV duo The Fabulous Baker Brothers, Tom and Henry Herbert, of Hobbs House Bakery.

The Brandon Trust enterprises involved included Scotch Horn in Nailsea, Banwell Pottery and @Worle Cafe in Worle, Elm Tree Farm nursery and Splinters workshop in Stapleton, and Fired Up ceramics studio in Pucklechurch. The money collected will be invested back into these enterprises.

The market proved popular with shoppers throughout the day and visitors included Bristol Mayor George Ferguson and Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy.

Brandon Trust organiser Erin Lawton said: “There was a great buzz at the market. It went really well and was a great opportunity to showcase what we do and the quality of the products our enterprises produce.

“The week leading up to the event was also a great success with our teams working together successfully on each site with fantastic support from the Burges Salmon volunteers. It is hoped we can do a similar event again next year and build on this first market.”
