Workplace pensions and the reasons why multinational firms are relocating to the UK are the two topics that will go under the spotlight at the next meeting of accountants Grant Thornton’s quarterly FD Club.
The event, which takes place in Bristol on Thursday next week, will hear from two senior advisers from the firm.
Established exclusively for finance directors and other senior decision makers, the FD Club provides an opportunity to hear Grant Thornton specialists provide insight into topical issues.
With increasing numbers of major companies choosing to relocate to the UK, associate director and head of Grant Thornton’s expatriate tax services Gavin Blackman will explain why the UK is a great place to do business.
He will also ask businesses whether they are maximising the benefits of their location.
Paul Walker, a manager in Grant Thornton’s employee benefits team, will focus on the wide-ranging changes currently affecting workplace pensions and the implications for employers.
This includes the effects of the cap on charges, the end of commission payments to advisers, the introduction of new governance requirements and the Pension Regulator’s review of ‘small’ occupational schemes. Paul will also look at the ongoing changes involved in the roll-out of auto enrolment.
The breakfast event takes place at Grant Thornton’s offices at Hartwell House, 55-61 Victoria Street, Bristol from 8am-9.30am on July 17.
