Wildscreen, the Bristol-based wildlife conservation charity, has appointed Caroline Copsey, head of marketing for international business development at Dyson, as its new chief executive.
Caroline, pictured, who joined the innovative domestic appliance firm in 2011 as group marketing controller, also has experience of introducing and marketing several national food brands.
Wildscreen said her experience puts her in an ideal position to spearhead the expansion of its existing platforms and to drive the development of innovative new projects and the international ambitions of the organisation.
She replaces Richard Edwards, who stepped down as chief executive in November last year to take up a new opportunity with WWF-UK.
Caroline, who will take up her new position in June, said: “2014 is an exceptionally busy year for Wildscreen, with the biennial Wildscreen Festival, WildPhotos and the launch of Wildscreen Exchange, which gives me an exciting opportunity to jump in, get my feet under the table and really see the organisation perform at its best.
“Wildscreen’s ethos is to communicate and inspire people about wildlife through imagery and captivating storytelling. Coming from a marketing background I have seen the true value of effective and powerful communications to deliver real impact so I really look forward to working with the team to successfully deliver these high calibre events and launch Wildscreen Exchange this autumn.”
Wildscreen chairman Dick Emery added: “The appointment is part of the step change we are making in the strategy of the organisation. I and my fellow board members look forward to working with her as she directs and drives Wildscreen to new heights.”
This year’s Wildscreen Festival takes place in Bristol from Sunday 19 to Friday 24 October. The biennial week-long event is attended by leading filmmakers, commissioners and professionals in natural history filmmaking from around the world. The festival also includes the Panda Awards – the 'Oscars' of the wildlife television and film industry.
This autumn, Wildscreen will also launch Wildscreen Exchange which will empower conservation organisations around the world, providing them with unique access to high quality digital media, to vastly amplify the impact and reach of their work.
