Three global advanced engineering firms have expanded into larger offices in Filton, helping raise the profile of the area as a hub for innovation in aerospace, defence and related sectors.
The firms – missile developer MBDA, Airbus parent group EADS and innovation and engineering consultancy Altran UK – have all taken space at Filton 20, a new 30-acre mixed-use business park being developed close to the Airbus and GKN plants at Filton.
The brownfield site, owned by BAE Systems, was previously part of the sprawling aerospace works at Filton which date back to the dawn of the UK aviation industry.
The site is being redeveloped with nearly 177,000 sq ft of modern office, industrial and research accommodation and forms part of the Filton Enterprise Area. Letting agent Alder King’s Bristol office is marketing it internationally as a rare opportunity to secure space alongside some of the region’s most successful manufacturing enterprises.
European missile systems company MBDA has expanded its systems and software departments into an additional 6,500 sq ft at New Filton House on the site.
EADS UK – Airbus Group Innovations has taken 8,266 sq ft of first floor office space in nearby Brandon House, while Altran UK has expanded to take further space.
Office buildings Brandon House and New Filton House and production/office buildings Blenheim Building and Braemar House provide flexible modern accommodation with office space ranging from 1,500 sq ft up to 32,000 sq ft and large production facilities from 21,000 sq ft up to around 85,000 sq ft.
