Bristol-based Chinese takeaway chain Hotcha is celebrating the most successful launch of any of its nine outlets. The branch in Yate achieved record-breaking sales in its first week of trading after opening in mid-December, serving more than 1,500 customers over seven days.

James Liang, the entrepreneur who founded Hotcha – the UK’s only Chinese takeaway chain – said: “We have found a formula that works and that customers love. Freshly-cooked, healthy food combined with excellent customer service is what we strive for. Customers in Yate immediately took to this.”

The group’s first outlet opened on Baldwin Street in Bristol city centre just over two years ago and is about to open its 10th, in Stroud.

Hotcha invested £100,000 in the Yate branch, which employs 10 staff, prior to opening.

The ambitious firm, which now has an annual turnover of more than £1.5m, has plans to open a further 150 branches across the UK over the next five years.

The outlets, which serve some of the UK’s favourite Chinese dishes, are supplied from a central kitchen in Ashton Vale, Bristol.

The firm says it provides a ‘healthy’ alternative to the standard Chinese takeaway meal.
