Bristol’s DoubleTree by Hilton hotel has had its merit score upgraded by the AA – leapfrogging a number of other highly regarded hotels in the city.

The Redcliffe Way hotel now has an AA score of 75% within the four-star market, putting it at the top-end category of the city’s hotels. The AA is one of the country’s leading rating bodies.

Hotel general manager John Dowling said: “This is the highest merit score the hotel has been awarded and is a direct result of the hotel's refurbishment programme and rebrand to a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.

“We’re delighted with this new merit score and shows that the work done at the hotel has had the desired effect. We work hard to ensure that every single guest has an enjoyable and memorable experience with us, so it’s great news that this hard work has been recognised by one of the country’s leading rating bodies.”

The improved rating follows a £5m refurbishment of the hotel last May which rebranded the venue as a DoubleTree by Hilton.

An increase in occupancy levels and business custom has also prompted a further round of refurbishment which will include six additional conference rooms and five more bedrooms.
