The Bristol office of national construction group Seddon has been appointed by Rooftop Housing Group to build a 49-home, £5.9m specialist housing scheme for older residents in Coleford, Gloucestershire.
Construction work has just started on the development which will create a dementia-focused housing with care complex made up of 28 one-bed apartments and 16 two bed-apartments.
The 4,913 sq m extra care apartment development is designed around a central courtyard and garden. The scheme also includes a wellbeing centre which will be open to the public with a café, meeting rooms, activity spaces and a hub facility for outreach services. Five two-bed chalet-style bungalows will also be built at the site.
Seddon business unit manager Grant Millar said: “We are delighted to be working with Rooftop to deliver this new affordable housing scheme which will provide high-quality accommodation for older residents, built to an extremely high standard.”
The properties will be energy-efficient, achieving Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system for measuring homes’ environmental performance. Sustainable features will include high-efficiency condensing boilers and, as part of the scheme, Seddon will also carry out landscaping work and reinstate a wildlife pond area.
