Bond Dickinson, the national law firm with an office in Bristol, has been appointed by international insurance company AIG to handle its high-volume contract work.

The appointment follows Bond Dickinson’s re-appointment to AIG’s legal panel earlier this year.

Bond Dickinson was awarded the contract after a competitive tender process involving four rival firms. The work will involve updating and modernising hundreds of medium risk and high-volume contracts with AIG’s providers.

Bristol-based insurance and client relationship partner for AIG Ian Peacock, pictured, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract, which will involve handling important work that will minimise an important risk for AIG.

“AIG has been a client of the firm for many years and we have developed an excellent relationship with their in-house legal team. We are glad to be able to help them package this type of legal work and allow their in-house legal team time to focus on strategic matters.”

Mr Peacock said the appointment was an endorsement of Bond Dickinson’s “deep understanding” of the ever-changing challenges faced by the insurance industry.

“With one of the largest team of commercial lawyers in the country, we are well placed to do so,” he said.  “Excellent client service is at the heart of the Bond Dickinson’s strategy and we strive to look for innovative solutions for our clients in the way we work for them.  Fixed fees and quality assurance are only two of the solutions we offer.

AIG general counsel for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Chris Newby, added: “This appointment will help drive consistency and volume discounts and will further cement our existing relationship with the firm.”

Bond Dickinson acts for a number of insurance companies and intermediaries in the Lloyd’s and companies markets as well as for overseas insurers doing business in the UK and abroad.
