Bristol law firm Osborne Clarke has opened an office in New York as it seeks to grow its overseas business and strengthen its offering in the digital technologies.
The office is in Soho, regarded as the heart of the city’s creative and digital district. Osborne Clarke is known for its work in the advertising and digital business sectors and is regularly ranked independently as the go-to firm in Europe for this work.
The new office will work seamlessly with the firm’s established office in Palo Alto (which opened in 2001) to provide an integrated coverage of the US market. From its new base in the city, OC will make its pan-European expertise available to New York clients and law firms.
Tim Birt, corporate partner at Osborne Clarke who is leading the firm’s opening in New York, said: “We see the New York office as a platform for growth, providing a vital link with our West Coast and European offices. This office gives our clients access to a major global market.
“Osborne Clarke has a strong track record in corporate legal advice especially on transatlantic VC and M&A transactions. With a team on the ground in New York we will be able to capitalise on our expertise and be on hand for our clients as and when they need our advice.
“We work with companies based in North America but whose business activities involve expansion or investment into Northern Europe.”
The office will be run on the same basis as its Palo Alto base with a semi-permanent staff of two or more partners on the ground at any time. Its rotating team of individuals are committed to the local market.
Since opening in the US in 2001 Osborne Clare has advised more than 400 major institutions and SMEs on UK and EU in-bound commercial issues.
