Bristol student Shahaid Hussain is on track for a successful career in the property industry after being recognised by the city’s professional body.
Shahaid, from Greenbank, is the first winner of the Bristol Property Agents’ Association’s (BPAA) Student of the Year award. The 39-year-old recently obtained a First from the University of the West of England (UWE) after completing his property management and investment and real estate degree.
He will be presented with the award and a £500 cheque at the BPAA’s annual dinner in February.

“I am delighted and honoured to be named BPAA UWE Student of the Year 2011,” said Shahaid.
“It would not have been achieved without the mentoring and dedication of my lecturers at UWE over the last three years, who included Tania Woolf, Andrew Ellison, Christopher Mason and James Taylor.”
BPAA president Jayne Rixon, a partner at Burston Cook, added: “We shortlisted and interviewed four candidates but Shahaid is a worthy winner.
“He put himself through university by working for a local garage and his sheer dedication, enthusiasm and application is borne out by the fact that he was awarded a First.”
The BPAA represents the commercial and residential property sector in the city and its membership comprises surveyors, solicitors, architects, engineers, developers and contractors.
