Destination Bristol will be showcasing the city’s top hotels and tourist attractions at the world’s largest meetings and events trade show, IMEX 2013, in Germany later this month, in a bid to attract more businesses to Bristol.

It hopes that the three-day annual exhibition, which runs from May 21- 23 in Frankfurt, will attract a new range of global companies, tempted by Bristol’s impressive air links to Germany and easy train access to London.

Destination Bristol will join the English Tourist Board, VisitEngland, to network with international decision-makers attract meetings, conferences and corporate events to the city.

Visitors to the Destination Bristol stand will find out about the city’s wealth of event venues and hotels while also learning about opportunities for incentive travel and corporate entertaining.

As well as being home to many recognisable hospitality brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Mercure and Hotel du Vin, Bristol has a wide selection of independently-owned and smaller chains.

The city also benefits from a range of unique venues including Brunel’s SS Great Britain and the At-Bristol science centre – ideal choices of venue for corporate events given VisitEngland's IMEX 2013 stand theme of science and innovation.

Destination Bristol staff will be on hand to discuss details of bmi regional’s new flights linking Bristol with key German cities including Hanover, Hamburg and Munich,.

Destination Bristol head of tourism Kathryn Davis said: “We are looking forward to highlighting Bristol’s fast growing reputation as a leading business and conference destination.  This event gives us a real opportunity to talk directly to industry buyers, particularly in highlighting ease of access from Europe and beyond, using direct flights and international hubs.

“Value for money, location and ease of access are the key influencing factors for any event organiser and business traveller, whether domestic and international, so the timely launch of the direct flights from Frankfurt to Bristol has made attending this event a must for us. We would especially like to thank VisitEngland, Bristol Airport and bmi regional in their support in helping us attend this event.”

Staff will stress that Bristol offers all the attractions of a major, modern European city, yet remains easy to walk around – meaning that meetings, dinners, events and accommodation are all within easy reach of each other, as well as centres of entertainment, shops, bars and restaurants.
