Property advisers CBRE has strengthened its Bristol operation with the appointment of James Morgan as head of the industrial agency department.
James, pictured, who previously worked for Bristol agents Hartnell Taylor Cook, has been an agent in the South West for the past eight years and brings with him six years’ specialist industrial property experience.
He has previously acted on a number of large multi-tenanted industrial estates in the region, including Patchway Trading Estate and Weston Industrial Estate, and on major development schemes in Avonmouth and Weston-super-Mare, as well as acquiring premises for national companies and local occupiers looking to improve their presence in the South West.
He will focus on increasing CBRE’s major instructions across the South West, expanding acquisition work for industrial occupiers and promoting the department’s ability to provide excellent advice and expertise to clients.
James said: “I see the industrial agency department growing rapidly in the coming years and am committed to establishing CBRE as a forerunner within the South West industrial agency sector.
“The Bristol market remains resilient and significant development activity in Avonmouth to the Co-operative and Asda has highlighted its strength as a major distribution location, with further interest from major occupiers indicating a positive outlook for the future.”
James believes there is strong demand for freehold premises in the region but the market is affected by small to medium-sized businesses’ difficulties in raising debt finance.
“With no speculative development planned, some occupiers will have to look at design-and-build opportunities in 2013 to obtain good quality modern premises in the area.”
