Vistair, the Bristol-based firm providing web-based safety and maintenance services to the global airline industry, has increased staffing by 80% over the past 12 months and opened satellite offices in Dubai and California.

The firm, which supplies airlines such as Emirates, BA, Ryanair and easyJet, has also increased its office space in Almondsbury by 50% to accommodate its growing team, which now numbers more than 60.

Among its new recruits are a new finance director, operational VP, software developers, document technicians and administrative support staff.

Founder and CEO Ian Herbert said the rapid expansion was due to a number of major contract wins as well as existing customers renewing agreements with the firm.

“2012 was an exceptional year for Vistair and we are on course to expand further in 2013,” he said.

“As well as taking on new people to keep up with demand we’re also investing heavily in new products and services.

“Key to our continued success is our focus on developing all our products in tandem with airlines themselves, thereby ensuring every solution we bring to the market is totally aviation-centric and fit for purpose at the first time of asking.”

Vistair’s products include the industry-leading, cloud-based SafetyNet, which handles all safety-related data for aircraft.

New markets now being targeted by Vistair include the Far East, Middle East and US. Among new customers taken on last year was Peach, the recently-launched low-cost airline subsidiary of Japanese flag-carrier ANA.
