The Bank of England’s representative in the South West, Stephen Collins, is guest speaker at the next ASPIRE event staged by business advisory firm Grant Thornton’s Bristol office.

Mr Collins will give an overview of his role and of the economic challenges facing the region this year at the event – designed to help young professionals in their careers – on February 26.

He has worked in a variety of roles in the Bank and before replacing Kevin Butler as agent for the South West in 2010, he was head of its business continuity division. He has also been involved in its relations with the European Central Bank and has worked at the International Monetary Fund.

Grant Thornton Bristol office managing partner John Golding said:  “We understand that balancing the demands of the day job with time for continued personal development can be challenging.
“We launched ASPIRE to deliver sessions that help address this issue, and to provide a corporate networking opportunity for aspiring professionals to build networks within the regional peer group.

“The role of Mr Collins, and that his counterparts around the country, is to gather information from local businesses and to feed that sentiment back to the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, so this is sure to be an interesting session.”

The event starts at 5.30pm at Grant Thornton’s offices at Hartwell House, 55-61 Victoria Street, Bristol, with an opportunity for networking before and after the talk. For further details please contact Laura Ketland on 0117 305 7604 or laura.ketland@uk.gt.com
