West law firm Thrings, which has an office in Bristol, has launched an integrated human resources service to help ease some of the biggest employment headaches faced by small firms.
Thrings HR will support clients in areas such as disciplinary investigations, grievance hearings, individual redundancy consultations, performance management and managing long-term absence.
The bespoke service will use Thrings’ own highly-qualified employment lawyers and HR employment specialists to support smaller businesses and organisations that don’t have their own dedicated HR function.
Head of employment at Thrings, Kerrie Hunt, said the firm had listened to clients’ concerns about the level of knowledge needed simply to manage employment processes.
“Business owners and directors are understandably anxious about the commercial risk around inadvertently failing to follow employment procedures to the letter,” said Kerrie.
“As most directors or owners of businesses not yet large enough to warrant their own HR departments will know, there may be circumstances where employee behaviour or performance does not meet expectations.
“Similarly, sometimes directors simply have to make changes in the business which might result in redundancy, but are rightly very wary of getting the process wrong. Such situations can be distressing, disruptive and costly, but if they cannot be avoided, Thrings HR will ensure that they are handled well, in accordance with legislation and with the minimum of fuss.”
Thrings HR will take clients through the necessary processes step by step, and offer whatever support is needed – from attending meetings on site, dealing with letters, taking notes of meetings or coaching managers who are inexperienced in these procedures. Thrings HR can be accessed as a one-off service, or on an ongoing basis.
Thrings, one of the UK’s top 100 law firms with 57 partners, 163 lawyers and more than 100 business support staff working in Bristol, Swindon, Bath and London, has developed a reputation for delivering the right expertise and a bespoke service to its clients.
