A business support programme showing how small and medium-sized Bristol firms can benefit from sustainable innovation has been launched by world-leading business incubator SETsquared and the University of Bath.
The three-year programme, which has been funded by the European Regional Development and available for firms based in the West of England, is aimed at firms that are developing – or interested in developing – low-carbon technologies.
It delivered by specialists in sustainable technology, including experts from the university’s Centre for Sustainable & Circular Technologies.
There are two main strands to the programme:
- An opportunity to take part in a sustainability workout – an online workshop designed to help firms scrutinise their existing business model to gauge how they can evolve it to access new markets, adopt new financials model, find new value by streamlining internal processes and as a business become more sustainable,
- A package of support from academic experts to help develop their technologies, products, services and business model.
Participants can, if appropriate, receive further support to raise public and private funding to further accelerate their growth.
There are also opportunities to collaborate with the research team from the Centre for Sustainable & Circular Technologies.
The programme is part of the award-winning Scale-Up Programme staged by SETsquared, which is backed by five universities, including Bristol.
Three dates for the Sustainability Workout are confirmed for 2021 and open to businesses in the West of England operating in any sector who are looking to make their products or services more sustainable.
To launch the programme an online event called Changing Your Business to Change the World, is being held on Wednesday June 9, from 9am.
An expert panel will discuss how companies can be more sustainable and outline the key benefits of the programme.
