Children’s television favourite Andy Day has returned to Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios to film a new series of Andy’s Safari Adventures for CBeebies.
Produced by the BBC’s world-renowned Natural History Unit – also based in Bristol – Andy’s Safari Adventures is a co-commission from CBeebies in the UK and BBC Worldwide for the international CBeebies channels.
Filming of the 40 episodes, each 14 minutes long, began earlier this month and will continue for 13 weeks, using the latest digital CGI and green screen technology with footage from the BBC’s archive.
The production team is filming in The Bottle Yard Studios’ M3 Green Screen studio, using its giant purpose-built green screen with a floor space of 9,405 sq ft and height of 27ft.
Andy’s Safari Adventures is the latest in the highly popular collection of series which includes Andy’s Wild Adventures, Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures and last year’s BAFTA-nominated Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures.
The Bottle Yard Studios site director Fiona Francombe said: “We’re thrilled to have the team back at the studios for Andy’s Safari Adventures. This is outstanding kids’ TV, expertly made by the world-leading Natural History Unit using the best in Bristol talent and companies.
“We developed our green screen studio to suit the team’s needs for the last series, so it’s great to have the team back on site picking up where they left off for this new show – which promises to be another feast for the eyes.”
The largest studio in the West of England, The Bottle Yard Studios’ other recent projects include ITV drama Broadchurch, upcoming Starz drama The White Princess, BBC One dramas Poldark and Sherlock: The Abominable Bride and E4/Netflix comedy horror Crazyhead.
