Regional construction firm Beard has appointed Mike Hedges as Bristol construction director to head its new office in the city.
Mike, pictured, a chartered construction manager, joins the £108m turnover company from Wates Construction where he was construction manager for the South West.
He will be responsible for the strategic direction and regional development of Beard’s Bristol operations following the opening earlier this year of a base in Westbury-on-Trym.
The privately owned firm, which has offices in Swindon, Oxford and Guildford, undertakes design and build, new build, restoration and refurbishment projects up to £10m for public and private sector organisations.
The 123-year-old company recently completed a £5.3m conversion of Norfolk House – the former HM Revenue and Customs tax office in Water Lane, Bristol – into high-specification student accommodation and is currently working for the University of Bristol.

Beard last year won the prestigious PwC West of England Business of the Year Award.
