Bristol recruitment firm Resource Solutions Group (RSG) has been appointed by US supercomputing pioneer Cray to help staff its new Bristol base in a deal that was kicked off by RSG’s sponsorship of Bristol City.

Cray located its first European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) HQ in Bristol because of the city’s reputation as a technology hub and centre for innovation.

The multi-national scope of work awarded to RSG is both for immediate staffing needs as well as being key to supporting Cray’s EMEA long-term growth strategy.

RSG, which has a number of offices across the UK and Europe, was chosen due to its strong track record in delivering bespoke recruitment solutions for ambitious transformation and growth projects.

The relationship between the two organisations was helped along by RSG’s sponsorship of Bristol City FC. Mike Piraino, Cray’s vice president of administration, general counsel and corporate secretary, had been following the team and noticed that RSG had become a new sponsor during the time that Cray was evaluating its recruitment in the UK.

He said: “RSG’s credentials speak for themselves and we are very pleased to be working with them in our new EMEA headquarters in Bristol.

“They have the perfect mix of skills, market knowledge and passion to find us the right blend of people to help grow our business on this side of the Atlantic.

“In addition to sharing our love for local sport, we are looking forward to building the perfect team together to help drive Cray’s growth in the region as well as its global R&D efforts.”

RSG director Tim Donaghy added: “We are delighted to be working with Cray to support their ambitions within this region and ensure they have the right mix of talent and expertise needed to support their continued global growth ambitions.

“Our sponsorship of BCFC was not only to support a successful local team but is also for our own internal employee engagement and motivation as many of our staff are fans.

“It was an unexpected – but very welcome – result to have then formed a partnership with such an amazing global player such as Cray.”
